Academic Lecture at UniBIT

The Memorial Week (6-14 March) celebrates Snejana Ianeva’s birthday with an Academic Class Session at UniBit, dedicated to Snejana Ianeva

An Academic Class Session led by Prof. Dr. Tania Todorova took place at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies on March 7th, at 10 AM, thus opening the Memorial Week in the academic community. This Academic lecture is supported by the whole academic community at UniBIT, by “Snejana Ianeva” Memorial Fund and by the Bulgarian Library and Information Association. The Academic Class Session will be held annually.

On the occasion of the approaching Snejana Ianeva’s birthday, the American Center at the Sofia City Library published on its website a virtual exhibition “To remember Sneja (1952-2019)”. The exhibition describes Snejana Ianeva’s contribution to the establishment and development of the center and the  partnership between Sofia City Library and the USA Embassy in support of the center.

Municipal Library “Paisii Hilendarski” – Samokov

On 04-th March 2021 the Municipal Library “Paisii Hilendarski” – Samokov paid tribute to Snejana Ianeva in connection with her birthday on March, 8th. In her memory Mrs. Albena Ihtimanska described Snejana Ianeva’s rich biography of an inspirer and an engine of many, important for the development of the libraries, campaigns, and initiatives in Bulgaria. She remembered with great nostalgia their meetings and their joint work and spoke before colleagues from the Samokov Municipality libraries.

Colleagues and friends around the world commemorate in their own way the anniversary of Sneja’s passing during Christmas

Colleagues and friends from Vienna, Brussels and Berlin

She loved to attend opera performances in Europe, that is why her colleagues decided to place a bouquet of Bulgarian red roses in front of the Vienna Opera House, Christmas ornaments with a memorial inscription in front of the National Opera of Belgium in Brussels and a small Bulgarian flag and a national ornament given to them by Sneja in front of the Berlin Opera.

A star named after Snejana

On December 10, 2020, Sneja’s friends around the world named a star after her in the constellation Orion - one of the brightest and most beautiful constellations which can be seen from anywhere in the world. Their message of dedication will be sent into space by a spaceship during its voyage planned for 2021.
