Memorial corner for Snejana Ianeva

Regional Library "Aprilov - Palauzov" joins the campaign "Three months of tribute for 30 years of gratuitous work for libraries"

There is a portrait of Sneja in the "American Corner" of the library along with a short text expressing gratitude for several projects that were realized thanks to her.

Snejana Ianeva is one of the leaders of library work in Bulgaria, longtime President of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association (BBIA), Chair of the Global Libraries - Bulgaria Foundation and respected Director of the Information Resource Center at the US Embassy in Bulgaria. She is a well-known supporter of the modernization of libraries and their development as a pillar of democratic change in Bulgaria. She has dedicated more than 30 years of her life to this patriotic mission. As a skilled and inspiring leader, working entirely on voluntary basis, she managed to attract to the cause many individuals and organizations, both in our country and around the world. Until her sudden and untimely death at the end of 2019, Snejana Ianeva remains the biggest inspirer for changes in libraries in Bulgaria, thus winning the love and gratitude of the library community in the country and abroad.

Thanks to the assistance of Snejana Ianeva, the following projects have been implemented in Regional Library "Aprilov - Palauzov": Project "American Corner" of the US Embassy in Bulgaria - a corner with books in English, covering various areas of knowledge in American literature and history, related equipment, and a computer system totaling $ 6,000 (2012); project of the Foundation "America for Bulgaria" "Books in English for Bulgarian libraries" (2012) - donation of books in English for readers of the Gabrovo library totaling $ 3,000. The Gabrovo Library is one of the ten in Bulgaria to which “Finch” robots have been donated and the library staff have been trained to conduct free lessons (2016). Global Libraries - Bulgaria Code Generation Project - programming training with Scratch and Finch robots and donation of 6 Wee Watt programmable toys (2019). Thanks to the last two projects, the free programming lessons reached 670 children and students from Gabrovo and the region. On October 15, 2020, the Bulgarian Library and Information Association posthumously awarded the annual award for 2019 to Snejana Ianeva for her lifetime outstanding contributions to the development and modernization of Bulgarian libraries.
