70th Anniversary of Snejana Ianeva's birth

We mark the 70th anniversary in the period between March 2021 - March 2022

On May 11, 2021, the Day of St. St. Cyril and Methodius and Librarian's Day, the “Snejana Ianeva” Memorial Fund announced awards to be presented in March 2022 for an one-year activity in memory of Sneja, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of her birth.

We hope that this gives all libraries the opportunity to join the commemoration of the 70th anniversary at a time convenient to them and in the period from March 2021 until the beginning of March 2022.  Enough time will be available considering the constraints arising from the pandemic, which are likely to continue in 2022. There are no other restrictions in the nature, number and duration of the initiatives named after Snejana Ianeva or initiatives in her memory, which continue her work the libraries choose to engage in. An independent Commission will determine the winners and the awards will be presented on March 8, 2022, Snejana’s birthday. The most meaningful initiatives will bring the respective library one of the following cash prizes:

  • Regional Library - 1 prize of BGN 2,000
  • Municipal Library - 1 prize of BGN 2,000
  • University Library - 1 prize of BGN 1,000
  • Community Center library - 1 prize of BGN 1,000
  • Foreign Language Center - 1 prize of BGN 500

The Memorial Fund will continue to provide scholarships for doctoral and master's degrees in the name of Snejana Ianeva and offers a new award for an excellent student majoring in Library Studies at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” which is Snejana’s alma mater.

We expect that the ideas of ​​BBIA to establish an annual award for innovation in the name of Snejana, and FGBB to name after her one of the existing awards will become a reality. We hope that both awards will be presented for the first time in the autumn of 2021.

After 2022, the financial support of the Memorial Fund will be directed to libraries and institutions that have named sites and initiatives in the name of Snejana. Our work collecting memories and archives for the work and life of Snejana Ianeva will continue.
